Case Study
PWM Enterprises is a leading
distributor of unique gift and novelty items. They were looking
to expand their offerings in the automotive themed home decor
niche. The need was to create a product that could serve markets
in the upper price ranges and go beyond anything imported from
Asia. A product line that used real automotive components was
highly desired. Another issue the product needed to address was
the ability to have low cost imprinting and personalization.
Most imprinting techniques used today are over forty years old
and often yield a high scrap rate. The imprinting needed to have
zero scrap. |

Solutions
Cimstrat created the designs,
sourced the parts, contracted the manufacturing,
and developed imprinting considerations for the new product line-up. A
desktop product trio consisting of a pen, lamp, and drink coaster set
were proposed. The new product line centered around a
gear shifter theme. To overcome the issue with imprinting, Cimstrat proposed a new method of product personalization
called "Insert Imprinting". The technique of using insert
imprinting means designing the product with imprinting in mind.
In short, the use paper inserts are enabled within the product.
This eliminates the need of printing on the actual product. If a
printing error occurs, the paper insert is discarded, rather
than the entire product. This dramatically reduces scrap and
improves print quality.
